S Sai Teja and S Vanisha Win Top Titles at Kukatpally Powerlifting Championship

S Sai Teja and S Vanisha secured the top honors of Strong Man and Strong Woman at the Telangana Open Medchal-Malkajgiri District Powerlifting Championship, which was held at the Fitness Plus Gym in Kukatpally, Hyderabad on Sunday. The regional sporting event showcased impressive performances across multiple weight categories, with winners receiving medals, cash awards, and praise for their dedication.

Competing in the men’s 52 kg weight category, Sai Teja delivered a remarkable performance to claim the championship title. He successfully lifted 197.5 kg in the deadlift and 77.5 kg in the bench press, securing enough total weight to walk away with the coveted Strong Man title.

In the female division, Vanisha claimed her victory in the teen girls’ 56 kg weight category. She achieved the Strong Woman title after successfully lifting 130 kg in the deadlift and 35 kg in the bench press during her competitive rounds. Both Sai Teja and Vanisha were presented with individual cash awards of Rs 10,000 each for their outstanding achievements at the tournament.

The championship also saw strong performances from several other local lifters. Among the notable participants who put up fine performances were M. Priyanka, who competed in the 54.5 kg category, and G. Ravi Teja, who lifted in the 106 kg category. Additionally, Nithun competed in the 81 kg category, while D. Krishna participated in the 64 kg category.

Following the completion of the events, Krishna Rao, Gauthami, and Ravi Teja offered their congratulations to the successful athletes. Rekha, the President of the WPC Telangana Powerlifting Association, distributed medals to the winners. She applauded all the participating medallists and lifters for their dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship during the district championship.
