Rs 27-Crore Vikarabad Railway Station Modernisation to Finish by Year-End

Union Minister Kishan Reddy reviewed ongoing modernisation works at the Vikarabad railway station along with Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, announcing that the Rs 27-crore upgrade will be completed by the end of the year. The Vikarabad station currently handles 15,000 passengers and 60 trains daily.

Speaking during the inspection, the minister said 42 railway stations across Telangana are being upgraded to international standards. The stations being modernised under the initiative include Vikarabad, Tandur, Nampally, Secunderabad, Maula Ali, and Charlapalli.

Kishan Reddy stated that railway projects worth Rs 80,000 crore are currently underway across the state. He noted that 100 per cent railway electrification has been achieved in Telangana and announced that the indigenous Kavach safety systems will be implemented first in the state. He also reiterated that Hyderabad will receive bullet train connectivity to Bengaluru and Pune in the future.

Regarding urban transit, the minister announced that tenders have been called for the extension of MMTS services up to the temple town of Yadagirigutta, with land acquisition works currently pending. He stated that the project linking Hyderabad with Yadagirigutta is estimated to cost Rs 500 crore.

He pointed out that although the earlier BRS government had not contributed funds for the second phase of the MMTS project, BJP MPs from the state convinced Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bear the entire Rs 1,200 crore cost.

Earlier, addressing a BJP workers' meeting in Tandur, Kishan Reddy criticised both the BRS and Congress, alleging that Telangana is struggling under a Rs 13 lakh crore debt. He accused the current Congress government of fixing a 30 per cent commission rate on real estate, contracts, and building works, while expressing confidence that the BJP would win all three Assembly seats in Vikarabad district in the next elections.
