Rs 1,090-Crore KBR Park Project Launched; One-Way Traffic System Begins August 18

The Telangana government has launched the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative (H-City) project with an estimated budget of Rs 1,090 crore to build 14 major structures around KBR Park in Hyderabad, prompting the introduction of a one-way traffic system in the area starting August 18.

The infrastructure plan involves the construction of seven multi-level steel flyovers and seven directional underpasses across six major junctions around KBR Park to upgrade urban transport infrastructure and ease traffic congestion.

To facilitate the swift and uninterrupted execution of the construction work, traffic around KBR Park will be shifted to a one-way system beginning August 18. Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar stated that the decision followed comprehensive traffic studies, two trial runs, and close coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

According to Sajjanar, the completed multi-level structures will resolve traffic congestion at key junctions, including the KBR Park Entrance, Road No. 45, Film Nagar, Maharaja Agrasen, and Cancer Hospital junctions, making travel through them signal-free. In addition, bottlenecks at the Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction are projected to decrease by 80 percent, shortening commute times between the core city and the IT corridor while saving substantial fuel.

The police commissioner added that cutting vehicle idling at these intersections would lower carbon emissions around KBR Park. Acknowledging that motorists might experience initial disruptions because of route adjustments, he noted that the temporary measure is necessary to adhere to the project timeline.

Sajjanar said the police department is in ongoing consultations with local residents, morning walkers, and resident welfare associations in the KBR Park vicinity to dynamically update traffic management plans and urged the public to cooperate with authorities during the project's execution.
