RPF Secunderabad recovers Rs 2.24 crore in lost passenger belongings in early 2026

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in the Secunderabad Division of Hyderabad has recovered and returned lost passenger belongings worth over Rs 2.24 crore during the first half of 2026. Under the specialized security initiative named 'Operation Amanat', the railway police force successfully solved 658 cases of missing baggage and valuables between January and June 2026, ensuring the items were restored to their rightful owners.

According to official figures released by the RPF authorities, the recovered belongings spanned a wide variety of valuable personal items. These included passenger luggage, laptops, mobile phones, jewellery, cash, and important personal documents that had been left behind on trains or within station premises.

This successful six-month campaign is part of a larger, sustained effort by the division to assist commuters. Since January 2024, the Secunderabad Division RPF has resolved a total of 2,747 cases of lost property, recovering and returning assets worth more than Rs 7.28 crore in total to passengers.

The RPF's records show a consistent track record of property recovery over the last two years. In the year 2025, the RPF recovered valuables worth Rs 2.53 crore across 1,111 individual cases. Similarly, during the 2024 calendar year, the security force restored property worth Rs 2.50 crore to passengers in 978 resolved cases.

Alakunta Naveen Kumar, the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, spoke about the real-world impact of these recoveries on passengers. He emphasized that what may appear to be a simple forgotten bag often contains a person’s hard-earned savings or essential documents.

To ensure swift recovery of lost items in the future, the RPF has advised passengers who lose any item during their travel to take immediate action. Commuters are urged to call the dedicated Railway Helpline at 139, or directly inform the nearest RPF post or available railway staff to report their lost belongings.
