Roche to Set Up Second Indian Digital Technology Hub in Hyderabad by 2027

Swiss healthcare multinational Roche has selected Hyderabad to establish its second digital technology hub in India. The new facility is scheduled to go live in the first quarter of 2027, marking a significant expansion of the company's global technology hub network in India alongside its existing site in Pune.

The upcoming technology hub in Hyderabad will house specialized teams dedicated to delivering critical IT services and digital applications. These teams will focus on key operational areas such as biostatistics, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and medical safety.

According to an official statement from the company, the Hyderabad hub will add depth and capacity to Roche's Life Sciences domain knowledge. This expertise is specifically tailored to accelerate the development of the multinational’s next-generation digital solutions. While announcing the expansion, Roche did not share specific details regarding the physical size or the proposed headcount of the upcoming Hyderabad facility.

Ramesh Durvasula, the Chief Data Officer at Roche, emphasized the strategic importance of the city's workforce. Durvasula stated that Hyderabad is a destination for an exceptional talent pool, especially for the pharmaceutical and Life Sciences domain. He added that by tapping into India’s vibrant healthcare and technology ecosystem, the company is creating scalable data-driven innovations.

Raja Jamalamadaka, Vice-President and Site Head for both the Pune and Hyderabad sites of Roche, stated that the investment in Hyderabad reflects the company’s long-term commitment to India and its local ecosystem. Jamalamadaka explained that by scaling their footprint, they are enhancing their capability to orchestrate seamless, next-generation digital and technology solutions.

This is not Roche's first major footprint in the city. In October 2022, Roche Pharma had announced the establishment of its Global Analytics and Technology Centre of Excellence, known as GATE, in Hyderabad. That center was Roche's second of its kind in India, launching with a target headcount of 100 by the end of 2022 and plans for further expansion.
