Revanth Reddy Vows No Compromise on Telangana River Waters at Golconda Fort

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday stated at Golconda Fort in Hyderabad that the Telangana government will not compromise on securing the state's rightful share of Krishna and Godavari river waters.

Speaking after unfurling the national flag during Independence Day celebrations, the Chief Minister said the administration is moving forward to complete pending irrigation projects, including Thummadihetti and the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation project, on a priority basis to ensure water reaches the last acre of the ayacut.

Highlighting state progress, Revanth Reddy noted that according to RBI statistics, Telangana's per capita income for the 2025-26 financial year stood at ₹4,18,931, roughly 91 percent higher than the national average. He said Telangana has surpassed Punjab in paddy cultivation area and yield, procuring 81.12 lakh metric tonnes of paddy through 8,575 procurement centres during the last Yasangi season.

Addressing farmer welfare, the Chief Minister stated that the government fulfilled crop loan waivers of up to ₹2 lakh for over 25 lakh farming families and distributed more than ₹36,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He noted that over the past 32 months since taking office in December 2023, the government spent nearly ₹1.70 lakh crore on agriculture and farmer welfare, including a ₹500 per quintal bonus for fine-variety paddy.

Detailing other welfare initiatives, Revanth Reddy said more than 34 lakh women use free RTC travel daily under the Mahalakshmi scheme, recording over 335 crore trips and saving ₹11,000 crore. He added that 53.09 lakh families receive up to 200 units of free power under Gruha Jyothi, 42.90 lakh families receive gas cylinders for ₹500, and stalls have been allocated at Shilparamam in HITEC City for self-help groups.
