Revanth Reddy Urges Union Minister To Expedite Warangal And Adilabad Airport Projects

On Tuesday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in New Delhi to push for the expedited construction of airports at Mamnoor in Warangal and Adilabad, as well as a proposed seaplane service from Hussainsagar in Hyderabad.

During the meeting, Reddy urged the Union Minister to invite tenders and commence work on the long-pending airport projects. He highlighted that land acquisition for the Mamnoor airport in Warangal has already been completed by the state government. Reddy requested that construction be expedited to ensure the airport is ready for inauguration by June 2, 2028.

Reddy also proposed that the terminal design for the Warangal airport should reflect the history and culture of the Kakatiya dynasty. The Union Minister responded positively to this suggestion. To support the airport's viability, the Chief Minister requested the establishment of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities, air cargo services, hangars, and Flight Training Organisations (FTOs) at the site.

For Adilabad, Reddy requested the establishment of a civil airport alongside the existing defence-run airstrip. He assured the Union Minister that the Telangana government would acquire and hand over the required land for both the Warangal and Adilabad airport projects.

Additionally, the Chief Minister suggested examining the feasibility of operating seaplane services between Hussainsagar in Hyderabad and the Prakasam Barrage in Andhra Pradesh. Minister Rammohan Naidu requested the state government to submit the necessary formal proposals to initiate a feasibility study for the seaplane project.

Highlighting the strategic importance of Warangal, Reddy noted that the city is a major hub in north Telangana, connected by rail and road, and home to the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park and the Kazipet Coach Factory. He emphasized that the expansion of airports is crucial for promoting regional development and generating employment opportunities for local youth.
