Revanth Reddy Urges UK Diaspora to Champion Telangana Rising, Returns to Hyderabad
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy called on the Telugu diaspora in London on Sunday to act as global ambassadors and partners in the state's development under the 'Telangana Rising' initiative. Addressing a community gathering alongside Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, the Chief Minister urged non-resident Telugus to actively champion the state's growth goals across the world.
During the United Kingdom leg of his tour, Revanth Reddy secured preliminary agreements for academic collaborations with prestigious institutions, including the University of Cambridge and Imperial College, London, while showcasing the state's progress.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to return to Hyderabad early on Monday following the central government's denial of political clearance for his planned visit to the United States. Revanth Reddy had initially planned a 10-day tour across the UK and the US, with the American itinerary focusing on discussions with higher education institutes such as Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Following the denial of permission by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Chief Minister directed an accompanying delegation of officials to proceed with the US leg of the trip without him.
In a post on social media platform X, Revanth Reddy stated that he had concluded all scheduled meetings and events in London and was flying back to Hyderabad instead of traveling to Boston. He stated that he would address all issues related to the Centre's denial of permission for "political reasons" once back in the city.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge and other party leaders for their support on the matter.
Addressing claims by Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleging that the Chief Minister had sought a meeting with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Chief Minister's Office (CMO) sources clarified that such a meeting was never part of the proposed US itinerary.
