Revanth Reddy Urges Telangana MPs to Unite for Pending Central Funds and Projects

On Monday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held a meeting in Hyderabad urging the state's Members of Parliament to rise above political affiliations and jointly lobby the central government for pending projects and funds. Speaking ahead of the Parliament's Monsoon Session starting July 21, the Chief Minister emphasized that the development of Telangana must remain the sole objective for all representatives.

The meeting, which took place in Hyderabad, saw attendance from Congress and BJP MPs, though representatives from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi boycotted the event. Among the attendees were BJP MPs Etala Rajender and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, alongside several Congress MPs and Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju.

During the session, Reddy highlighted several key infrastructure and development proposals requiring immediate central approval. He urged the MPs to collectively meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to seek approval for establishing an Indian Institute of Management in Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister also briefed the MPs on discussions regarding the takeover of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-I and the expansion of Phase-II. He specifically requested BJP MPs Etala Rajender and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy to pursue these metro projects with the Centre.

Regarding the Regional Ring Road, Reddy informed the MPs that 95 percent of land acquisition for the northern section has been completed. He stated that Union Cabinet approval is now required to begin physical work and to start land acquisition for the southern section.

Additionally, the Chief Minister raised the Musi River rejuvenation project, noting that the first phase has reached the tender stage. He requested the MPs to meet Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to secure an approval letter under the Urban Challenge Fund.

On water resources, Reddy discussed the Tungabhadra project, stating that Telangana is receiving only about 5 tmc ft of its allocated 15.09 tmc ft of water due to silt accumulation. He asked MPs to lobby Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil to facilitate desilting cooperation from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

To ensure smooth operations, Reddy announced that IAS officer Advait Kumar Singh has been appointed at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi to coordinate with MPs, while MP Dr. Mallu Ravi will act as the convener to coordinate across party lines.
