Revanth Reddy to Lay Foundation Stone for Indiramma Housing Towers in Kukatpally

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the state government’s Indiramma Housing towers project in Kukatpally on Thursday. The housing project, comprising affordable flats, will cover the Hyderabad (CURE) region.

Kukatpally has been selected as the venue for the foundation stone laying ceremony. According to Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, 8,000 flats will be constructed within a year under the scheme and handed over to beneficiaries by the Bonalu festival next year. Nearly 90 acres of government land have so far been identified across the region for these housing towers.

The Kukatpally site will see the construction of four 10-storey towers on a five-acre plot identified by authorities. The estimated cost for the Kukatpally project is ₹43.20 crore. Each of the four towers will consist of 120 flats, with 12 flats on every floor. Every individual flat will feature a built-up area of 528 square feet and will comprise a bedroom, a hall, and a kitchen.

Demand for the scheme remains high, with around 50,000 applications received so far for 7,340 flats located across 16 Assembly constituencies. Beneficiaries for the housing units will be selected through a draw of lots.

Minister Srinivas Reddy explained that the towers will be constructed on government land, with 20 to 25 square yards of land to be registered in the name of each selected beneficiary. He added that the state government plans to construct one lakh houses every year to provide housing to the poor in Hyderabad in phases, rather than executing it as a one-time scheme.
