Revanth Reddy tells BRS to let government work, outlines USD 3 trillion economy goal

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday criticized the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), advising them to let the Congress government function without displaying daily impatience over losing power. Speaking at the inauguration of Premier Energies' solar module manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Reddy also outlined an ambitious vision to transform the state into a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047.

The Chief Minister suggested that political rivalries should be set aside until the final months of the legislative term. He advised the opposition to let the government work for some time rather than showing their sorrow over losing power to the public every day, noting that the electorate had delivered a five-year verdict. He added that both parties could present their performance records to the public during the last six months before the next elections.

These comments come amid ongoing political tension and a verbal duel between the ruling Congress party and the BRS. The two parties have clashed over alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram multi-purpose irrigation project on the Godavari River in Bhupalpally district, as well as the debt burden left behind by the previous BRS administration.

Reddy also highlighted improvements in the state's educational sector. Citing reports from Central government agencies, he noted that Telangana was ranked 36th—the lowest position—in education in 2023, but has since risen to the 18th position under the current Congress regime. He expressed his administration's goal to push the state to the top ranks.

The manufacturing facility was built within a span of one year, and Reddy congratulated Premier Energies and the officials of the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) for the swift construction. He instructed government officials to showcase the facility to future investors as an example of development in the Peri Urban Region (PURE), a designated manufacturing zone.

Reflecting on urban challenges in other major Indian cities, Reddy referenced the high pollution levels in Delhi, monsoon issues in Mumbai, and traffic congestion in Bengaluru. He stated that the Telangana government is committed to taking timely decisions to ensure Hyderabad remains a pollution-free city.
