Revanth Reddy Slams Centre Over Denial of Permission for US Investment Tour

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy returned to Hyderabad on Monday from the United Kingdom and hit out at the central government for denying him permission to travel to the United States as part of an official investment delegation. Speaking to reporters alongside cabinet colleagues, he termed the decision politically motivated, anti-federal, and an insult to the four crore people of Telangana.

Revanth had departed on Aug 20 for a 10-day tour of the UK and the US alongside a delegation of ministers and bureaucrats. The objective was to sign MoUs with educational and sports institutions, seek investments, and invite international investors to the Telangana Global Summit scheduled for Dec 7, 8, and 9. While the Ministry of External Affairs cleared the UK visit, the US leg was denied permission.

The Chief Minister called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to disclose the reasons for blocking the state delegation. He alleged discrimination against non-BJP states, noting that Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had received clearance to travel to the US and Canada to conduct roadshows and seek investments under the Vibrant Gujarat banner.

Revanth stated that the trip would have benefited students from Dalit, Adivasi, and Bahujan communities through tie-ups with foreign institutions. He affirmed that the state submitted complete details, schedules, and dates of the proposed tour to the MEA in advance.

He added that state leaders, MPs, MLCs, and MLAs unanimously condemned the denial. According to Revanth, AICC leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will raise the issue in both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.
