Revanth Reddy sets June 15 deadline for Centre to procure Telangana grain

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has issued a strict deadline of June 15, 2026, for the Central Government to procure the state's paddy, maize, and jowar stocks. Speaking at a public meeting in Kagaznagar on Monday, June 1, 2026, the Chief Minister warned of a political "war" and statewide agitations if the Centre fails to respond to the state's demands.
Revanth Reddy asserted that while the initial procurement of grain from farmers within the state remains the responsibility of the Telangana government, the ultimate responsibility of procuring these accumulated stocks lies with the Central Government. He urged Union Minister G Kishan Reddy to take immediate responsibility and persuade the Centre to procure the agricultural yields.
"If he fails, after June 15, the paddy and other crops will be dumped at his house," Revanth Reddy warned, adding that the Union Minister would also face difficulties moving around Telangana if he does not facilitate procurement and discussions with the Maharashtra government.
According to the Chief Minister, the Telangana government has successfully procured 62 lakh metric tonnes of paddy so far. An additional 15 lakh metric tonnes are expected to arrive at various procurement centres across the state in the coming days. Revanth Reddy demanded that the Centre procure the entire projected 75 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, alongside the state's maize and jowar stocks.
During his speech, Revanth Reddy alleged that the Central Government was neglecting Telangana while prioritizing procurement from other states like Punjab and Haryana. He stated that the state government had made repeated appeals to Union Minister Prahlad Joshi regarding the matter but had not received a positive outcome.
With the state's local procurement process scheduled to finish by June 15, the Chief Minister raised concerns over where the massive agricultural stocks would be stored. He questioned where the state is expected to dump the paddy, maize, and jowar if the Centre does not fulfill its procurement duties.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the efforts of BJP leaders who recently conducted a bus yatra from Vikarabad to raise farmers' issues, but insisted that the Central Government must now act on its responsibilities to the state's agricultural sector.
