Revanth Reddy Releases Rs 2,482 Crore Rythu Bharosa Funds for 42 Lakh Farmers

On Tuesday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy officially released Rs 2,482 crore to nearly 42 lakh farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme during a public meeting at Shilpakala Vedika in Hi-Tec City, Hyderabad. During the event, the Chief Minister announced that the state government will deposit a total of Rs 9,000 crore into the bank accounts of farmers over a span of nine days.

Addressing the gathering at Hi-Tec City, Reddy advised farmers to adapt their agricultural practices in response to impending environmental challenges. Pointing to the threat of El Nino and forecasts of reduced rainfall, he urged farmers to opt for crops that are less water-intensive instead of undertaking large-scale paddy cultivation. Specifically, he recommended the cultivation of seven government-specified paddy varieties that currently have an active market.

The Chief Minister defended his administration's track record, stating that the Congress government has spent Rs 1.75 lakh crore on farmer welfare over the last 30 months. He called on the farming community to ignore opposing narratives from political rivals T Harish Rao and K T Rama Rao.

Reddy also directed sharp political criticism toward former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family, stating that the Kalvakuntla family seemed to be under a curse where telling a single truth would cause their heads to shatter into a thousand pieces. He claimed that the previous BRS-led government had transformed a revenue-surplus Telangana into a debt-ridden state. He likened K Chandrashekar Rao to "Pashupati," a negative character from the Telugu film 'Arundhati', stating he had detained him in a farmhouse.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister dismissed recent remarks by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, who had claimed that the BJP would secure power in Telangana in the upcoming state elections.
