Revanth Reddy Proposes AI Traffic Signals for Hyderabad at MCR HRD Institute

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday proposed integrating traffic signals across Hyderabad with advanced technology and artificial intelligence to improve traffic management and reduce congestion. The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting held at the Bodhi Pavilion in the MCR HRD Institute, where a new joint venture presented plans to upgrade the city's urban transport network.

During the meeting, Analog founder and CEO Alex Kipman and MEIL managing director PV Krishna Reddy presented a pilot project for Hyderabad's traffic system. The presentation outlined how physical intelligence, incorporating sensors and robotics, could create safer, faster, and more responsive transport networks.

According to a communique from the Chief Minister's Office, Reddy directed the two companies to explore practical applications of this technology to deliver immediate solutions to the city's urban challenges. The proposed system aims to reduce commuter inconvenience, particularly during heavy rains, by dynamically adjusting signal timings based on real-time traffic congestion.

The joint venture's presentation also highlighted how next-generation intelligent infrastructure could assist in emergency situations. The AI-integrated systems would be capable of automatically clearing routes for ambulances and fire tenders, identifying water leaks before they worsen, and managing the city's power supply based on real-time demand.

To formalise this collaboration, Analog and MEIL signed a memorandum of understanding in the presence of the Chief Minister. The agreement aims to deepen technical cooperation and promote innovation-led infrastructure development across the city.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, adviser K Ramakrishna Rao, and Invest Telangana CEO B Ajith Reddy were also present at the presentation.
