Revanth Reddy orders Musi Experience Centre on Necklace Road for riverfront project

On Friday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to establish a "Musi Project Experience Centre" on Necklace Road in Hyderabad to showcase the rejuvenation and beautification plans for the Musi River. During a review meeting held at the MCRHRD Institute’s Bodhi Pavilion, the Chief Minister assessed the first phase of the Musi Riverfront Development project, which will utilize 83 acres of defence land at the Artillery Centre in Golconda.

The proposed experience centre on Necklace Road will exhibit ongoing works, development models, beautification designs, and night economy plans under the Musi rejuvenation initiative. Chief Minister Reddy stated that the centre must be opened directly to the public to allow officials to gather citizen feedback on the riverfront development.

The project review follows recent working permission granted by the Ministry of Defence to the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL). The ministry has agreed to transfer 83 acres of defence land at the Artillery Centre in Golconda for the proposed Gandhi Sarovar project, which is a major component of the Musi rejuvenation plan. The land transfer is being executed under an equal value infrastructure (EVI) model, which also includes upgrading Bapu Ghat.

Chief Minister Reddy specified that the Telangana state government must take responsibility for relocating the existing structures, utilities, and other facilities belonging to the defence authorities on the acquired 83 acres of land.

Addressing the rehabilitation of local residents, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that families living in the Musi riverbed are provided with double-bedroom houses before any eviction processes begin. For those residents who are willing to give up their land for the project, the government will provide compensation through transferable development rights (TDR) or direct monetary payments.
