Revanth Reddy Orders Musi Experience Centre at Necklace Road

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed state government officials to establish a 'Musi Experience Centre' at Necklace Road around Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad. According to an official release issued late Friday night, the Chief Minister also issued directives regarding rehabilitation, land acquisition, and the relocation of defence structures at Bapu Ghat to expedite the Musi River rejuvenation project.
The proposed Musi Experience Centre is designed to raise public awareness about the state government's Musi riverfront rejuvenation project. Chief Minister Reddy specified that the centre, located at the Necklace Road, must reflect various aspects of the rejuvenation initiative. To ensure community involvement, he suggested that officials establish a dedicated system to gather feedback from visitors who tour the centre.
During a meeting focused on the first phase of the Musi riverfront project, the Chief Minister detailed the rehabilitation plans for affected local residents. He instructed officials that the government's double-bedroom houses must be allotted to those currently living in the riverbed as part of the rehabilitation process. For other landowners affected by land acquisition, Reddy directed that the government offer either Transferable Development Rights (TDR) or direct compensation.
The directives also addressed the proposed Gandhi Sarovar Project at Bapu Ghat. Defence authorities recently granted working permission for this project as part of the Musi River rejuvenation programme. To prevent any delays in the execution of the project, Reddy instructed that structures located on defence lands where the Gandhi Sarovar Project is set to come up must be relocated by the state government.
Bapu Ghat, situated on the banks of the Musi River, is a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. The ashes of the Father of the Nation were immersed in 1948 at the confluence of the Isa and Musi rivers, which is where Bapu Ghat was built. The state government is embarking on a major plan to rejuvenate a 55-kilometre stretch of the Musi River. In the first phase, this rejuvenation project will extend from the Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar lakes up to the Gandhi Sarovar.
