Revanth Reddy Lays Foundation for AWS Data Centre in Bharat Future City

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for a new Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centre in Bharat Future City, located on the periphery of Hyderabad. During the event, the Chief Minister urged the global technology giant to increase its planned investment in the state to ₹1 lakh crore to help accelerate regional development.

The project stems from a prior ₹60,000 crore ($7 billion) framework agreement signed between AWS and the Telangana government during the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025. While Amazon had committed to investing the $7 billion over a 14-year period, Chief Minister Reddy stated this would not fully meet the state's aspirations of reaching a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

To support business expansion and address investor needs, Reddy announced that the government will hold monthly review meetings. He instructed K. Ramakrishna Rao, the former Chief Secretary and current government advisor, to convene these monthly sessions specifically to clear requests from Amazon.

The Chief Minister highlighted plans to develop Bharat Future City into a world-class destination for infrastructure and investment. Under this vision, Amazon will serve as the anchor industry to help attract further investments from Fortune 500 companies to the upcoming city.

Reddy also detailed the state's broader development strategy, including the Telangana Rising 2047 policy, which was formulated with input from experts such as World Bank President Ajay Banga. The policy aims to establish single-window systems to streamline permissions and prevent delays for industrial investors.

Speaking at the event, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu emphasized that the state government intends to act as a facilitator rather than a regulator. He announced plans to set up a dedicated data centre park at Aloor, which will offer comprehensive facilities, including uninterrupted water and power supplies, to meet the rising demand for data infrastructure.
