Revanth Reddy Inaugurates Amara Raja Cell Qualification Plant in Divitipally

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday inaugurated the Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies’ Customer Qualification Plant (CQP) in Divitipally near Hyderabad. The inauguration of the facility marks a step forward in the state's clean energy sector and aligns with the government's 'Telangana Rising' development vision.
Amara Raja has invested approximately Rs 500 crore in the CQP, which is part of the company's Phase 1 investment of more than Rs 1,500 crore across its Rs 9,500 crore Giga Corridor programme. The new plant has an initial capacity of 60 MWh and will manufacture lithium-ion cells for customers to test and validate ahead of commercial production. Cells from this facility are expected to be supplied for validation starting in August.
The CQP is designed to bridge the gap between laboratory-scale research and commercial production, helping to smooth the learning curve before the company's first 2 GWh commercial cell manufacturing facility, Giga 1, begins production next year. The plant currently has a workforce of more than 100 employees, while the overall Giga Corridor project employs 700 people, including 400 women.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Reddy urged Amara Raja Group Chairman Jayadev Galla to prioritize employing the children of the local farmers who gave up their land for the project. Reddy also assured the public that the government remains committed to the development of Mahbubnagar district, including the implementation of the Dindi lift irrigation project.
Addressing the gathering, Reddy stated that the government is proactive in policy-making and has adopted and improved previous policies that support investment and employment. He reiterated the state's goal to increase Telangana's contribution to the national GDP from 5% to 10% by 2047, aiming to make the state a $3 trillion economy.
Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu was also present at the event. He listed the various measures taken by the state government to accelerate the project, including land allocation, permissions, and the issuance of incentives.
