Revanth Reddy inaugurates 5.6 GW Premier Energies solar plant in Shabad

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday, July 9, 2026, inaugurated a state-of-the-art solar module manufacturing facility in Shabad, Rangareddy district. Established by Premier Energies, the new 75-acre plant has a manufacturing capacity of 5.6 GW and is expected to provide employment to 3,000 people.

During the inauguration, Chief Minister Reddy outlined the state government's new three-layered development strategy designed to boost economic growth while curbing pollution. The strategy divides the state into distinct service, manufacturing, and agricultural zones to prevent the severe environmental degradation seen in other major Indian metropolitan cities.

Under this plan, the state will be organized into the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) for the service sector, the Peri-Urban Region Economy (PURE) for manufacturing, and the Rural and Agricultural Region Economy (RARE) for the rural and agricultural sectors.

Reddy stated that this structural planning was prompted by declining living conditions in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, where pollution has forced residents to remain indoors. He emphasized that Telangana must learn from these cities by controlling the spread of pollution while simultaneously generating employment through industrial promotion.

The Shabad solar facility is the first unit to be completed under this vision, built in a record time of 12 months. The Chief Minister invited other major industries to establish their units in the state, highlighting the government's proactive support.

Addressing the state's economic targets, Reddy said the government aims to build a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of a $30 trillion national economy by 2047, with Telangana aiming to contribute 10 percent of that total. To achieve these goals, Reddy noted that the state has resolved to compete with fast-developing economies like China and South Korea.

The Chief Minister also addressed political opposition, urging the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) to let the government work for the next two years before the upcoming elections. He highlighted the state's progress in education, health, and infrastructure under the current administration, citing the successful hosting of the Miss World competitions in Hyderabad as a testament to the state's safety and stability.
