Revanth Reddy Directs Fast-Track Welfare for Telangana Statehood Activists

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed officials in Hyderabad to expedite the process of identifying Telangana statehood activists and implementing welfare measures for them and their families. The directive came during a meeting where a government-appointed committee submitted a report detailing its consultations and recommendations.

The committee, headed by Dr K. Keshava Rao, briefed the Chief Minister on the classification of Telangana movement activists and presented their major demands. The proposals submitted to the government include the allotment of 250-square-yard residential plots, Cheyutha pensions, health cards, free travel in TGSRTC buses, and formal recognition for government employees who participated in the statehood agitation.

Revanth Reddy reiterated that it is the responsibility of the government to honour the contributions of those who sacrificed their lives, careers, and future for Telangana statehood, and to extend support to their families. He directed the committee to complete the identification and welfare implementation exercise without delay.

To facilitate the process, the Chief Minister instructed senior officials to extend administrative and technical support to the committee. This will include developing an official web portal, receiving applications digitally, and coordinating the verification exercise at the district level.

The committee reported that it had recently conducted extensive consultations at the Amaraveerula Smarak (Amaradeepam) with more than 13,000 movement activists, alongside representatives of joint action committees, people's organisations, poets, artists, and women activists.

The meeting was attended by committee members including MLC Prof. M. Kodandaram, executive member Mothe Shobhan Reddy, and former MLC S. Ramulu Naik, along with Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and CMO principal secretary V. Seshadri.
