Revanth Reddy challenges BRS and BJP to assembly debate over governance records

On Sunday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy challenged the opposition BRS and BJP to a special legislative debate on their respective governance records during a public meeting in Nalgonda. Addressing the gathering, Reddy strongly defended the Musi River Rejuvenation Project and warned opponents that any hurdles to the environmental cleanup would not be tolerated.
Reddy stated that the Congress-led state government is fully prepared to discuss the ten-year rule of the BRS, the BJP's 12-year tenure at the Centre, and the Congress government's own 30-month performance. He invited the opposition to write to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the Council Chairman to schedule a special session to settle the issue on the floor of the House.
Reiterating his commitment to the Musi River Rejuvenation Project, the Chief Minister described the cleanup as a crucial public health intervention. He highlighted that contaminated water in the Musi basin has caused severe health issues in the region, including congenital deformities in children born in Nalgonda. He warned that those attempting to obstruct the project would be "dumped into the Musi River."
Reddy also launched a sharp attack against BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao, and T. Harish Rao, dismissing their hopes of returning to power. He accused the previous BRS administration of phone tapping, leaking exam question papers, and harassing Congress workers. He contrasted the multi-acre farmhouses of BRS leaders in Gajwel, Janwada, and Shankarpalli with the living conditions of lakhs of poor families who remained without homes.
Highlighting his administration's welfare initiatives, Reddy noted that the Congress government has already sanctioned 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses, waived ₹20,000 crore in farm loans, and extended ₹27,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He also mentioned that the state is spending ₹16,000 crore annually to provide fine rice to 3.28 crore beneficiaries and has provided 70,000 government jobs.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for 6,300 kilometers of Roads and Buildings roads across Telangana, an initiative estimated to cost ₹13,000 crore. He assured the public that the long-delayed SLBC project would be completed soon.
