Revanth Reddy Attributes Record Paddy Yields to Monsoons and Borewells

HYDERABAD — Chief Minister Revanth Reddy declared that Telangana farmers have generated record-breaking paddy produce, attributing the state's agricultural output to favorable monsoons, borewell irrigation, and recent policy initiatives while stating that the Kaleshwaram project played no role in the harvest.

Taking to social media platform X, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared what he called an insightful and well-researched piece authored by Prof Aldas Janaiah, Vice-Chancellor of Prof Jayashankar Telangana Agriculture University. Highlighting the university vice-chancellor's arguments, Reddy stated that the Kaleshwaram project has got no role in the abundant paddy production recorded in Telangana.

According to the details cited by the Chief Minister, good monsoons over the last 10 years were the major reason behind the bountiful paddy yield in the state. Reddy further explained that 40 lakh acres of land came under cultivation afresh in Telangana due to the installation of 15 lakh new borewells. The Chief Minister claimed that borewells are singularly responsible for 100 percent of the growth in the state's irrigable area.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that the record-breaking paddy produce was achieved in response to Rythu-centric policies introduced under the Congress government in Telangana. He cited key farmer-centric initiatives implemented in the state over the last two-plus years, including the Rythu Runa Mafi scheme, Rythu Bima insurance, Rythu Bharosa financial assistance, uninterrupted 24-by-7 free power supply, and water availability across most districts.

Evaluating the economic condition of the agricultural sector, Reddy stressed that farmer welfare is determined by the net income that can overcome growing irrigation expenditure. He pointed out that Telangana has not shown any growth on that front in the last 10 years. Referring to political debates surrounding agriculture, Reddy stated in his X post, "The entire opposition hoax on agriculture has been exposed. Case over!"
