Revanth Reddy Announces Musi Project Phase II And Blames Kishan Reddy For Delays

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that works on Phase-II of the Musi river rejuvenation and riverfront development project will begin soon under a newly prepared 100-day action plan. Speaking at a public meeting in the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation limits in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister also laid foundations for civic infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,511 crore and accused Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy of deliberately stalling crucial approvals.
The Chief Minister explained that while Phase-I of the Musi project is being executed between Gandipet and Gandhi Sarovar at Bapughat, the newly announced Phase-II will extend the rejuvenation works from Nagole to Gowrelly. According to Reddy, the project is designed to boost the local economy and generate employment opportunities for youth, while addressing the river pollution that has kept land rates low in several parts of Hyderabad.
During his address, Reddy leveled sharp criticisms against Secunderabad MP and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. He accused the Union Minister of obstructing central government approvals and funding for major state initiatives, including the Musi rejuvenation, Metro rail expansion, and the Regional Ring Road.
Reddy claimed he had personally visited Delhi 50 times and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi five times over the last two years to secure project approvals. However, he alleged that Kishan Reddy has been blocking these clearances due to a secret understanding with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and its leader K.T. Rama Rao. He also claimed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has refused to schedule talks regarding the Tummidihatti barrage on the Godavari River due to influence from Kishan Reddy.
Reddy issued an ultimatum, stating that if the Union Minister does not cooperate in securing approvals, central funding, and the procurement of 75 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from Telangana, the state government will launch an action plan against him after June 15. Conversely, he offered to hold a grand felicitation for Kishan Reddy at the LB Stadium if he cooperates with the state's development.
Alongside the Musi project announcement, foundations were laid for several local infrastructure works in Malkajgiri. These include a new municipal office complex, a six-lane flyover at the TKR College junction, a 100-bed hospital at Uppal Bhagayath, and alternate roads near the AOC Centre.
