Revanth Reddy Announces ₹2,400 Crore Direct Fee Reimbursement for Students

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday announced that the state government will deposit ₹2,400 crore towards fee reimbursement directly into students' bank accounts in advance starting from the current academic year. The announcement was made during a public meeting held after he unveiled the statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule near PV Marg Necklace Road in Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that students will receive their reimbursement within a month of submitting an online application. The government has already released ₹250 crore for the scheme. Revanth Reddy noted that the direct transfer mechanism was designed to resolve ongoing issues where colleges withhold students' educational certificates due to delays in government fee reimbursement payments, referencing a request previously raised by BJP MP R Krishnaiah.

In addition to the fee reimbursement updates, the Chief Minister outlined plans to incorporate skill-based education into school curriculums from nursery through Class 12. He emphasised the necessity of technical competencies alongside traditional academic qualifications to help youth secure employment in a competitive job market.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted that advanced technical centres (ATCs) were set up across all 119 constituencies in 2024 in collaboration with the Tata Group. Students enrolled in these technical centres receive hands-on training alongside their regular studies and are provided a monthly stipend of ₹2,000.
