Revanth Reddy Accuses BRS Leaders of Looting Rs 1 Lakh Crore and Saddling State With Debt

On Saturday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched a sharp public attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership during a public meeting at Midjil mandal in the Jadcherla assembly constituency of the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district. He accused former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao, and T Harish Rao of amassing enormous wealth and looting ₹1 lakh crore during their decade-long rule, while saddling the state with ₹8 lakh crore in debt.

Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy claimed that the previous BRS government had burdened Telangana with massive debt while failing to deliver on several promises made to the people. He alleged that the opposition leaders were now trying to create a narrative around K Chandrasekhar Rao’s return to power solely for their political survival and to protect their wealth.

"The BRS leaders looted ₹1 lakh crore and put another ₹8 lakh crore debt burden on the state during their 10-year rule," Revanth Reddy said during the meeting. He further alleged that if the BRS returned to power, they would listen to even the conversations between a wife and husband, claiming they want to once again loot and infringe upon the private conversations of the people.

The Chief Minister also criticized K Chandrasekhar Rao for not attending the legislative assembly sessions to discuss the issues faced by the public.

In response to the BRS demand that the Congress government step down, Revanth Reddy contrasted his administration's welfare initiatives with the record of the previous regime. He questioned whether the Congress government should be removed for implementing public welfare schemes, such as issuing ration cards, supplying fine rice, and providing 200 units of free electricity to households.

He further highlighted other initiatives launched by the Congress government, which include offering LPG cylinders at ₹500, extending free RTC bus travel for women, waiving crop loans worth ₹21,000 crore, procuring paddy from farmers, and paying a ₹500 bonus.
