Remand Prisoner Dies by Suicide at Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad

A 31-year-old remand prisoner allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself inside a washroom at Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad.

The deceased was identified as Kandi Sagar. He was facing charges in connection with a road accident case and had recently been transferred to Chanchalguda Jail from the Nizamabad Jail.

According to reports, Sagar was suffering from depression over his legal situation. He had reportedly sought his wife's assistance to help secure bail, but she allegedly did not respond to his requests. Distressed by the lack of support, he went into the jail washroom and took the extreme step.

Jail authorities noticed him hanging in the washroom and acted quickly to intervene. Staff brought him down and immediately arranged to transport him to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.

However, Sagar died on the way to the hospital before doctors could administer treatment.
