Remains of Vietnam Boat Tragedy Victims Arrive at Hyderabad RGI Airport

The mortal remains of three tourists from Andhra Pradesh who lost their lives in a speedboat capsize in Vietnam have arrived at the RGI Airport in Hyderabad. The tragic accident, which occurred on a Saturday, claimed the lives of 15 Indian tourists when their vessel capsized approximately 400 metres off Hon May Rut Ngoai, an island in the An Thoi archipelago off the coast of Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
Among the three victims from Andhra Pradesh was N Adisehaiah Ravi Teja, a resident of Hindupur in the Sri Satya Sai district. Teja, who worked as a distributor for a mobile company, was embarking on his first-ever air journey when he left for Vietnam on June 8.
Speaking to PTI Videos at the RGI Airport, where the mortal remains of the three deceased persons from Andhra Pradesh arrived from Mumbai, Teja's cousin Ashwin Raj shared details of their final conversation. Raj recalled that on June 7, Teja had asked him about the trip because he was unfamiliar with flying. Raj noted that his cousin was travelling by flight for the first time in his life, having never boarded a domestic or international flight prior to this journey. Raj had wished him a happy journey before Teja departed.
The family members of the victim learned of the boat tragedy several weeks later. On the evening of July 11, they contacted the Indian Embassy’s helpline in Vietnam to seek information and verify the news. Government authorities also reached out to the family to offer support during the repatriation process.
According to reports from the Vietnamese news portal VN Express International, the speedboat was carrying a total of 32 Indian tourists and four crew members when it capsized. The incident resulted in the deaths of 15 Indian tourists. Among the 15 victims, ten were from Tamil Nadu, three were from Andhra Pradesh, and two were from Kerala.
