Raviryal-Amangal Radial Road Works Speed Up as Land Acquisition Progresses

Construction on the 41.5-kilometre greenfield radial road connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Raviryal to the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) at Amangal has gathered momentum following major progress in land acquisition. The state government has decided to name the ₹4,030-crore project after late Padma Bhushan awardee Ratan Tata, designating the starting interchange at Raviryal as the 'Tata Interchange'.

The 3+3 lane access-controlled road corridor is spread across a 100-metre-wide alignment. On-ground development has commenced at several locations, including the levelling of uneven terrain, removal of hillocks obstructing the route, and the construction of bridges, culverts, and underpasses.

The project involves approximately 1,000 acres of acquired land, which includes 87.66 hectares of forest land, and is being built in two distinct execution phases. Phase-I covers a 19.20-km stretch from Raviryal ORR Exit-13 through Mirkhanpet to Akuthotapally, being constructed by Rithwik Constructions at an estimated cost of ₹1,665 crore. Phase-II spans 22.30 km from Mirkhanpet to Amangal and is being executed by L&T at an estimated cost of ₹2,365 crore.

To clear the way for construction, official sources confirmed that the government has expedited land acquisition compensation payments to affected farmers. On Friday last, Shadnagar Revenue Divisional Officer N.R. Saritha deposited ₹10 crore directly into the bank accounts of farmers who lost around 40 acres of land in Chukkammet village in Kondurg mandal and Thummalapally village in Jilledu-Chowdariguda mandal. The disbursements were carried out following directions from the district collector.

While several landowners initially opposed the acquisition, government offers of compensation higher than prevailing market rates led some to agree voluntarily. In cases where landowners continue to resist, compensation amounts have been deposited in court to facilitate the statutory acquisition process and allow construction to move forward.
