Ranga Reddy Risers beat Warangal Warriors by 161 runs to reach TG20 League playoffs

On Tuesday night, 7 July 2026, the Ranga Reddy Risers secured a spot in the TG20 League playoffs after defeating the Warangal Warriors by 161 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.

The massive victory allowed the Risers to overtake the Anurag Nalgonda Knights on net run rate, officially eliminating them from the tournament. The Risers needed to win the final league-stage match by at least 130 runs to qualify. They surpassed expectations by posting a mammoth total of 252/6 in their 20 overs, before bowling out the Warangal Warriors for just 91 runs in 12.3 overs.

The foundation of the Risers' innings was a record-equalling 163-run third-wicket partnership between Aaron George and Aditya Javvaji. This stand became the joint-highest partnership of the season. George smashed 91 runs off 43 balls, earning the player of the match award, while Javvaji contributed 77 runs off 36 balls.

The Risers had initially recovered from a shaky start at 2/1. Following the major partnership, S Venkat Karthik provided a finishing flourish with an unbeaten 51 off 26 balls. For the Warangal Warriors, bowler Salman Khan briefly pulled things back, taking 5/44. This marked the first five-wicket haul in the history of the tournament.

In response, the Warangal Warriors' chase faltered early when opener Rishiket Sisodia fell for 8 runs in the first over. The Warriors' lower order collapsed under pressure from a disciplined Risers bowling attack.

Stand-in skipper Nitin Sai Yadav led the bowling display with figures of 3/10, while Hitesh Yadav claimed 3/18. Only Aman Rao Perala with 31 runs and Harshit Choudhary with 15 runs reached double figures for the Warriors before the team was bundled out for 91.

With this victory, the Ranga Reddy Risers have set up an Eliminator clash against the EIPL & Eleve Karimnagar Diamonds on Thursday, July 9. The playoffs will continue with Qualifier 1 between the unbeaten Hyderabad E-Champions and Anvita Khammam Aces on the same day, followed by Qualifier 2 on Friday, July 10, and the final on Sunday, July 12.
