Probe Ordered Against Police Inspector Over Conduct During Mahabubabad Student Protest

Mahabubabad Superintendent of Police P Shabarish has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged highhandedness of Inspector Raghupathi Reddy during a student demonstration held in front of the Collectorate office on Wednesday.

The protest was organized by students who gathered outside the Collectorate demanding the withdrawal of the G.O. 97 Shakti scheme merger. During the agitation, the district police faced severe criticism after Inspector Reddy was seen catching hold of a student's neck and dragging him along the ground, refusing to release him.

A video documenting the inspector's actions was widely circulated across social media platforms, triggering public outrage and prompting district police leadership to intervene immediately.

Following the circulation of the footage, SP Shabarish announced through a video statement that an officer of Additional Superintendent of Police rank has been assigned to conduct a thorough probe into the entire episode.

Authorities have directed Inspector Reddy to stay away from active duty until the formal inquiry is completed. The Superintendent of Police stated that necessary disciplinary action will be initiated against the inspector once the final inquiry report is submitted.
