Ponnam Prabhakar Flags Off HIV Awareness Rally at HMDA Grounds

Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar flagged off a massive HIV awareness rally at the HMDA Grounds in Hyderabad as part of state efforts to increase public awareness regarding the prevention, early detection, and treatment of HIV, AIDS, syphilis, and other related diseases.

Around 1,500 people participated in the rally, which proceeded from the HMDA Grounds to the Necklace Road Railway Station.

Addressing the gathering, Ponnam Prabhakar stated that the state government, the Health and Medical Department, and the Telangana State AIDS Control Society are working together to achieve an HIV-free state under the official campaign slogan "Be Positive – Stop HIV Positive."

"Today, we organised a campaign and rally with the aim of making Telangana AIDS-free. Many people participated in the rally, and we hope that Telangana will become AIDS-free in the coming days. We are also working towards building a drug-free and healthy Telangana," the minister said.

Prabhakar further announced that awareness programmes will be conducted across the state for two months, starting from August 12. He urged the public to participate actively in these upcoming programmes across Telangana.

The minister also highlighted healthcare measures, noting that necessary medical services and treatments are available to prevent the transmission of HIV from mothers living with the virus to their unborn children. Reassuring the public, Prabhakar urged people not to panic and advised them to seek accurate information regarding HIV prevention, testing, and treatment.
