Ponnam Prabhakar Criticises Centre for Denying Permission for CM's US Visit

HYDERABAD — BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday expressed disappointment over the denial of permission for Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's proposed visit to the United States, urging the central government to rise above political considerations and support Telangana's development.

Prabhakar questioned whether the chief minister was not entitled to travel abroad to attract investments and explore opportunities for educational and state growth. He alleged that the denial of permission reflected an authoritarian attitude by the Centre.

The minister stated that Telangana's progress contributes directly to the national goal of building a Viksit Bharat, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He asked why obstacles were being created for the state's progress and challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party's state leadership to explain their silence on matters affecting Telangana's interests.

Prabhakar stressed that the Centre's cooperation is vital for the success of the Telangana Rising vision. He called for central backing for key infrastructure initiatives, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail, radial roads, and other essential projects.

He also appealed to the central government to adopt a constructive stance regarding financial assistance and pending funds owed to Telangana, stating that the Centre should uphold the spirit of federalism rather than creating hurdles over minor issues.

Additionally, the minister questioned why local BJP leaders were not pressing the central leadership to secure required clearances, funds, and development projects for the state.
