Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy Orders 2 BHK Homes For Displaced Musi River Families

On Monday, Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed state government officials to allot double-bedroom (2 BHK) houses, lawful compensation, and necessary rehabilitation to families displaced by the Musi River rejuvenation project. Speaking at a review meeting held at the Secretariat in Hyderabad, the minister emphasized that the state government would not compromise on supporting those who give up their lands for the project.

The high-level review meeting focused specifically on the rehabilitation plans and land acquisition processes required for the Musi River project. Srinivas Reddy explained that the initiative is designed to revive the polluted river as part of a broader goal to shape Hyderabad into a world-class city. The government envisions turning the riverfront area into a major hub for tourism, employment, and economic growth.

According to the minister, the project is not merely a development initiative but a long-term commitment to providing future generations with a healthy, safe, and eco-friendly living environment. He noted that local residents have suffered for decades due to heavy pollution in the Musi River.

Srinivas Reddy also highlighted that the project was conceived keeping in mind the severe hardships faced by the residents of the river basin during seasonal floods. The government intends to address these issues directly through active flood control measures and water treatment initiatives.

To improve the overall quality of life in the area, the state government aims to transform the Musi catchment into vibrant living spaces. This transformation will involve the expansion of greenery and the development of public infrastructure, including roads, parks, walkways, and various recreational facilities.

The minister reiterated that the rehabilitation of the Musi project oustees remains a top priority, ensuring that displaced families are provided with secure housing and lawful compensation.
