Ponguleti Assures Rectification of Errors in 22A Prohibited Property List

Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced on Monday that the state government is actively correcting errors in the Section 22A prohibited properties list, where genuine properties had been wrongly included by officials. Speaking to mediapersons at the State Secretariat in Hyderabad, the Minister cited Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's residence in Jubilee Hills as an example of such clerical oversights.

Elaborating on the Jubilee Hills case, Srinivas Reddy stated that Survey No. 403 covers 1,288 acres, out of which only two specific plots faced issues. However, officials mistakenly placed the entire survey number under the prohibited list. He confirmed that this specific mistake has since been rectified, and assured that all similar errors involving genuine private properties would be resolved soon.

The Minister explained that the state government has been reviewing the 22A list for four weeks and has uploaded the relevant orders online to ensure transparency. He stated that the government will also place before the public the complete details of all additions made to the prohibited list since December 7, 2023.

Dismissing claims from the Opposition that the 22A issue was causing widespread disruption, Srinivas Reddy accused political rivals of exaggerating facts to trigger panic. He noted that nearly 98 per cent of genuine property registrations among booked slots have already been cleared. He also rejected allegations regarding the inefficiency of the 22A helpline, noting that it had received 1,162 calls, with valid grievances being fast-tracked for resolution.

Srinivas Reddy warned against fraudulent activities, noting that some individuals were attempting land registrations using forged documents, fake government orders, or unauthorized memos. He cautioned that criminal cases would be registered against anyone attempting such practices. He added that disputed CS7 and CS14 lands would be handled strictly in line with court orders, expressing readiness for a Special Investigation Team probe into alleged irregularities.

Addressing other land matters, the Minister announced that the government is formulating a comprehensive policy to settle long-pending disputes involving Urban Land Ceiling lands and will review Bhoodan land issues on a case-by-case basis.
