Police Turn KBR Park Perimeter Into One-Way Rotary in Banjara Hills

Traffic police implemented a one-way vehicular flow around the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park in Banjara Hills at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, turning the six-lane perimeter stretch into a giant rotary. The traffic management measure was introduced due to ongoing H-CITI construction works and resulting carriage limitations in the area.

Under the new system, motorists travelling along Road No. 3 from Banjara Hills towards the Jubilee Hills Checkpost were required to take a mandatory left turn near the traffic signal. The rule applied across the stretch, requiring all motorists to turn left and use designated lane-switching locations to exit the roundabout.

Around 200 police personnel were stationed along the route to direct traffic and enforce compliance. At the Jubilee Hills Checkpost, officials guided motorists to take a 5-kilometre detour instead of taking right turns. Police official Srinivas Rao noted that while some commuters sought clarification, staff were deployed to guide drivers through the new route.

The changes altered morning routines for several regular commuters and visitors. Morning walkers driving to KBR Park from the L.V. Prasad stretch had to turn left at the signal to find parking spaces rather than proceeding straight. Motorists and school buses arriving from Yousufguda were also redirected into the roundabout instead of taking a right turn at the signal.

While the uninterrupted vehicular flow increased the speed of traffic along the motorway, pedestrians and morning walkers reported difficulties crossing the faster-moving road.

As part of the traffic overhaul, the U-turn near Filmnagar Junction and another nearby U-turn were eliminated, reducing travel times for certain routes. Police personnel stated that staff will remain deployed at key locations around the clock to guide and assist commuters as the one-way system continues.
