Police shoot wanted criminal Bhushmi Srikanth near Adibatla ORR in Hyderabad

A Nalgonda CCS police team opened fire on and injured a notorious wanted criminal, Bhushmi Srikanth, near Bongulur Gate, Exit No. 12, on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Adibatla, Hyderabad, on Tuesday late night. The shooting took place after the accused allegedly launched an attack on a police constable during an attempt to arrest him.

The police team from the Nalgonda Crime Investigation Department (CCS) had traveled to Hyderabad on Tuesday late night after acting on specific information. The department had received intelligence that the accused, who was wanted for committing thefts in several areas including the Nalgonda district headquarters, was present in Hyderabad.

When the police team successfully tracked down the accused near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Adibatla and attempted to take him into custody, Srikanth allegedly attacked a police constable in an effort to escape. To stop his escape and control the situation, the police officers opened fire on him, causing injuries to the accused.

Following the confrontation, the police arrested the injured accused. During the preliminary investigation, the police identified him as Bhushmi Srikanth, who is a native of Andhra Pradesh. Srikanth was immediately taken to the Vanasthalipuram Hospital, where he was admitted and is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

According to statements from the police department, Srikanth is a notorious offender with a history of criminal activities. He is reportedly involved in more than 10 theft cases in various regions, including the Nalgonda district headquarters. In addition to these theft cases, Srikanth is also an accused in the murder of a police constable that took place in Andhra Pradesh four years ago.

The Nalgonda CCS police team had initiated the search operation specifically to apprehend him for these prior crimes. Following the shooting incident and his subsequent admission to the Vanasthalipuram Hospital, further details regarding the incident and the investigation are still awaited from the police.
