Police Expect KBR Park One-Way Traffic Flow to Improve After Initial Congestion

The first day of the one-way traffic system around KBR Park in Banjara Hills encountered traffic congestion during peak hours, but conditions are expected to improve within a few days, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said.

Speaking at a media conference held at the Hyderabad Police Commissioner’s office at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Banjara Hills, Sajjanar noted that the initial snarls were caused by road design issues and a lack of public awareness.

According to the commissioner, vehicular movement remained smooth during the early morning hours. However, congestion built up after 9 a.m. at key intersections, including the Road Number 45 junction and the Agrasen Bhavan junction.

To manage the transition, the police department has deployed approximately 500 personnel working across four shifts round the clock. In addition, two drone cameras are being operated to monitor real-time traffic flow directly from the command control centre.

Sajjanar stated that despite an advance awareness campaign conducted by the police regarding the new one-way traffic rules around KBR Park, many commuters were still unaware of the changes.

Police personnel are working in close coordination with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials to monitor the situation, review road design factors, and ensure smoother movement as drivers adjust to the new system.
