Police Book Toxic Event Organisers, Malla Reddy University Over Stampede

Hyderabad police have registered a case against the organisers of the pre-release event of actor Yash-starrer “Toxic” as well as the management of Malla Reddy University following a stampede-like situation at the institution's Maisammaguda campus on Saturday night.

The incident unfolded when a massive crowd consisting of students and fans gathered at the Maisammaguda venue to catch a glimpse of actor Yash. The high turnout led to severe overcrowding across the event grounds.

During the gathering, several fans climbed onto heavy sound boxes and light poles in an attempt to get a better view of the actor. The additional load reportedly contributed to the structural collapse of a scaffolding-mounted sound box, which triggered immediate panic and led to a stampede-like situation among those in attendance.

Several students sustained injuries in the ensuing chaos, while a female student reportedly fainted. Those who were injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Following the incident, police alleged gross negligence on the part of both the event organisers and the college management for failing to ensure adequate crowd management and necessary safety arrangements at the campus.

A case has been formally registered against the organisers and the university authorities, and further investigation into the incident is currently under way.
