Police Book Malla Reddy Management After Sound Rig Collapses at Toxic Event

Petbasheerabad police have registered a case against the management of Malla Reddy Group of Institutions and an event manager after a sound system structure collapsed during a promotional event for the film Toxic on Saturday night, leaving four students injured.

The incident took place at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad, where a massive crowd of students and fans had assembled to see Kannada superstar Yash and the film's team.

The collapse occurred while Yash was addressing the gathering from the stage. A sound speaker structure set up near the audience suddenly came down, creating panic among the attendees. According to Petbasheerabad police, four students suffered injuries in the accident, with one student sustaining a bone fracture.

Upon noticing the commotion in the crowd, Yash stopped his speech midway. He asked the event organisers and security personnel to check on the audience and ensure that the students were safe. After being informed about the ground situation, he continued with the programme.

Videos and reports from the venue showed that several people had climbed onto structures near the stage prior to the collapse. Although initial reports suggested a possible stampede, Petbasheerabad police clarified that no stampede occurred and stated that the injuries were caused entirely by the falling sound equipment.

The police have initiated legal action against the institutional management and the event organiser, raising serious questions regarding the safety arrangements and crowd management protocols at the high-profile promotional gathering.
