Police Arrest Labourer in Bollaram With Three Firearms and 19 Live Rounds

A 27-year-old labourer who allegedly took up the illegal firearms trade to earn quick money was arrested near Sadhana Mandir in Bollaram on Saturday. The Malkajgiri Zone Special Operations Team (SOT) and Bollaram police caught the suspect with two 9 mm pistols, a double-barrel country-made gun, and 19 live rounds.
The accused, identified as Parbhans Kumar, is a native of Gagipur district in Uttar Pradesh. Police intercepted him at around 5.50 a.m. following a tip-off. During the search, officers recovered two 9 mm pistols, three magazines, 17 live rounds, a double-barrel tappancha with two live rounds, and a mobile phone.
Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi said Kumar had devised a plan to buy weapons in Bihar and transport them to Hyderabad. He allegedly intended to sell the firearms at inflated rates to individuals seeking weapons for criminal activities.
According to the police, Kumar is a Class V dropout who previously worked as an agricultural labourer and a lorry cleaner. In 2021, he allegedly became addicted to marijuana and took to drug peddling after finding his wages insufficient to meet his personal expenses. He had earlier been arrested in 2024 by the Cherlapally police in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Following his departure from the Cherlapally area, Kumar relocated to Bihar Basthi in Patancheru, where he worked as a daily-wage labourer at an iron and steel manufacturing unit. Police said he subsequently decided to enter the illicit arms trade to generate quick earnings.
Investigators stated that Kumar travelled to Bihar on August 10 and contacted a person identified as Sonu to procure the firearms and ammunition. Following his apprehension in Bollaram, a case was registered against him at the Bollaram police station under the Arms Act.
