Police Arrest Bike Mechanic for Rape and Murder of Nurse in Thukkuguda

The Hyderabad police have solved the rape and murder of a 21-year-old nurse in Thukkuguda with the arrest of a 34-year-old bike mechanic within 30 hours of the crime being reported, officials confirmed.

The suspect, identified as Md Sanaullah, a native of Bihar, was taken into custody based on technical evidence and forensic clues gathered from the scene of the offense. Sanaullah had migrated to Hyderabad three years ago and was working at a bike repair workshop in Thukkuguda.

The case came to light on August 29 when the victim's aunt approached the Pahadishareef police after the woman failed to respond to repeated phone calls and knocks on her door. The victim, who worked at a private hospital in Thukkuguda, was subsequently found dead inside her residential quarters.

According to Shamshabad DCP B Rajesh, the suspect had been monitoring the victim's movements through the rear window of the mechanic workshop located near the hospital premises and plotted the assault after learning she lived alone in the residential rooms.

Police said Sanaullah broke into the victim's room through a window around 12:30 a.m. on August 29. When the nurse woke up and raised an alarm, the suspect attempted to silence her, leading to a physical struggle during which the victim bit his left little finger and scratched his throat and chest. Sanaullah then assaulted her, pushed her down, strangled her, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing through the window.

Investigators tracked down and apprehended the suspect following an analysis of local movements and technical data. Authorities stated that further forensic, scientific, and technical evidence is currently being analysed to build the case.
