Pega Expands Academic Program in India to Boost Agentic AI Skills

Enterprise AI software firm Pegasystems Inc. announced new and expanded higher education partnerships under its University Academic Program at its flagship event, PEGAInnovate, in Hyderabad on August 9, 2026. The expanding initiative is designed to boost skills in agentic artificial intelligence, generative AI, and enterprise automation across engineering institutions in India.

The strategic move comes as agentic AI and intelligent automation increasingly reshape how modern enterprises build and run their most mission-critical operations. To address these industry shifts, Pega is integrating these in-demand technical skills directly into the core engineering education system.

As part of the latest updates announced at PEGAInnovate, VEMU Technical University has joined the University Academic Program as a brand-new institutional partner. At the same time, Pega highlighted expanded academic engagements with the University of Engineering & Management (UEM) in Kolkata and Woxsen University, signaling a growing educational footprint.

With 23 universities already participating in the program, Pega plans to scale the initiative by adding another 30 to 40 universities across India over the course of this year. Through this direct model of collaboration with universities, the company aims to enhance faculty capabilities while establishing a steady talent pipeline of Pega-certified students trained in agentic AI, Gen AI, and enterprise automation.

Pega noted that providing students and faculty with direct training in automated enterprise systems reflects its core conviction regarding technology education. The company stated that upskilling in these specific areas is no longer optional, but a vital component for supporting India’s digital ambitions and long-term economic resilience as modern software transforms key industries.
