Patients Face Shortage of Saline Stands and Basic Amenities at MGM Hospital Warangal

Patients and their attendants at Warangal’s MGM Hospital have raised concerns over the lack of basic amenities, including saline stands, functional fans, and adequate beds, amid persistent overcrowding at the state-run facility.

MGM Hospital serves as a major referral centre for lakhs of people across North Telangana. Despite operating with more than 1,450 beds, over 50 departments, and round-the-clock emergency services, the hospital has faced complaints from patients regarding inadequate basic infrastructure.

The issue recently gained attention after a video circulated on social media showing an attendant carrying a saline bottle by hand while accompanying a patient who was being shifted inside the hospital. The lack of a saline stand reportedly forced the attendant to hold the bottle manually throughout the transit. Attendants also reported that saline bottles are sometimes hung from walls in certain sections of the hospital.

Wards have also experienced a shortage of adequate fans, prompting some attendants to bring rechargeable fans from home. In addition to equipment shortages, visitors pointed out overcrowded conditions and a lack of sufficient beds, noting that families frequently have to arrange basic necessities themselves.

With more than 1,800 outpatients visiting the hospital each day, attendants have questioned the ongoing shortages of essential supplies. They have urged hospital authorities to upgrade the basic infrastructure and ensure that essential amenities are made available alongside medical treatment, particularly for patients coming from poor families.
