Parents Ask Khammam Commissioner to Name Baby After He Helped Fund Heart Surgery

The parents of a two-month-old girl brought their infant to the Prajavani grievance programme on Monday and requested Khammam Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Agastya to name the child, expressing their gratitude after he helped secure life-saving heart surgery for her.
The baby was born on May 9 to Kampati Rakesh and Madhavi from Khammam district. Twelve days after her birth, the newborn was diagnosed with a heart ailment.
The child's grandmother, Narasamma, who is employed as a Group IV worker with the Khammam Municipal Corporation, brought the medical situation to the attention of Commissioner Agastya.
Following her approach, Agastya intervened by connecting the family with a non-governmental organisation operating in the healthcare sector. Through the assistance of the NGO, a sum of ₹14 lakh was arranged to fund the infant's surgical procedure.
The operation was successfully performed on July 28, and the baby made a recovery.
With the child doing well, the parents decided to express their thanks by asking Agastya to choose a name for their daughter. They carried the infant to the official Prajavani grievance redressal programme on Monday to make their request directly to the commissioner.
Speaking on the matter, Agastya played down his role in facilitating the child's treatment and recovery.
