Pahadishareef Police Arrest Accused in 21-Year-Old Nurse Rape and Murder Case

Pahadishareef police in Rangareddy district have arrested an accused in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 21-year-old nurse inside her room in Thukkuguda.

According to police, the victim was found dead inside her room located within the Pahadishareef police station limits. Investigators stated that the accused allegedly raped the young woman and murdered her by attacking her with a hammer. While police initially suspected she was assaulted by unidentified individuals, subsequent investigation led to the apprehension and arrest of the accused.

The incident has triggered widespread public outrage and protests across Telangana. Nursing associations took out a candlelight march to register their protest and demand justice for the deceased nurse.

Political and community leaders also raised concerns over the incident. Telangana BJP state president N Ramchander Rao criticised the state government over the prevailing law and order situation, demanding strict action against the perpetrator.

Speaking to ANI, Rao said that police must take stern action against the person responsible for the crime. He asserted that incidents of crime against women have become frequent and claimed that the law and order situation has failed, adding that women in the state require protection.

Condemning the crime, Yamuna Pathak, National Mahila President of Visva Hindu Raksha Parishad, described the incident as a horrifying assault on a woman's dignity and her fundamental right to life under Articles 14 and 21. Pathak demanded a swift and impartial investigation supported by watertight forensic evidence, alongside a time-bound trial before the competent court.

Pathak added that if the charges are proved, the prosecution must seek the severest punishment permitted under Sections 66 and 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including the death penalty where legally warranted.
