Owaisi Urges Health Minister to Provide New Digital X-Ray Machines at OGH

AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday urged Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha to take immediate steps to provide new digital X-ray machines at Osmania General Hospital (OGH).

In a letter to the health minister, which was also shared on social media platform X, the Member of Parliament highlighted the severe shortage of functional diagnostic equipment at the hospital, pointing out that the issue has been causing considerable hardship to visiting patients.

According to Owaisi, Osmania General Hospital caters to a large number of poor and economically weaker patients who rely entirely on government healthcare facilities. The hospital is currently facing serious difficulties because its existing X-ray equipment is old and non-functional.

Due to the lack of working diagnostic tools at OGH, patients requiring X-ray investigations are routinely being referred and sent to Gandhi Hospital. Owaisi noted that this diversion results in unnecessary movement across the city, significant delays in diagnosis and medical treatment, and extra financial expenditure for patients and their attendants.

The Hyderabad MP stated that the crisis is particularly acute for elderly patients, emergency admissions, and seriously ill individuals who require prompt medical attention.

Owaisi specified that the requirement for four new X-ray units has already been identified for the hospital. The requested equipment includes one 800 mA digital X-ray machine, preferably equipped with fluoroscopy, one 500 mA digital X-ray machine, and two 200 mA machines to adequately handle the daily patient load at Osmania General Hospital.
