Over 5,000 Join Central Gurudwara Gowliguda Centenary Marathon at HMDA Grounds

More than 5,000 people took part in a centenary marathon organised by the Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda at the HMDA Grounds in Hyderabad on Sunday, marking 100 years of the historic Sikh institution in the city.
Organised under the theme 'Run for Faith, Run for Sewa', the event included 3K and 5K runs alongside a Family Walkathon. The gathering brought together children, youth, families, and senior citizens from across Telangana.
The morning activities started with a warm-up and Zumba session before prominent Sikh personalities flagged off the runs. Participants taking part in the 3K run headed towards People's Plaza, while runners in the 5K category continued along the route towards Jal Vihar.
Founded in 1926, the Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda has served as an important centre of spiritual, cultural, and community activity for the Sikh community in Hyderabad. The broader centenary celebrations are being organised under the theme 'One Family, One Panth, One Sangat, One Community and One Historic Celebration'.
The marathon is part of a series of religious, cultural, and community programmes scheduled throughout the centenary year. The upcoming September itinerary includes the Akhand Path Sahib, which involves the continuous recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib, as well as a Kirtan Darbar featuring devotional music and the Sikh initiation ceremony known as Amrit Sanchar.
