Over 35,000 Apply for 7,340 Indiramma LIG Flats in Hyderabad

Over 35,000 homeless residents across Hyderabad have submitted applications for 7,340 Low Income Group (LIG) flats under the Indiramma Housing Towers scheme, which spans 16 constituencies within the Hyderabad Core Urban Region (CURE). Telangana Housing Board Vice-Chairman VP Goutham shared the details in an official statement issued on Saturday.

As of Saturday, a total of 35,125 applications had been received for the housing initiative. Goutham stated that applications for the scheme will continue to be accepted until August 10, noting that only two days remained for eligible residents to apply at the time of the announcement. A lottery process to determine the allotment of the flats is tentatively scheduled to commence on August 20.

The Telangana Housing Board has already initiated the tendering process required for the construction of the Indiramma Towers. Goutham stated that the board is currently developing a comprehensive plan to ensure that all 7,340 houses are fully constructed within one year and subsequently handed over to the selected beneficiaries.

The housing units are being constructed on valuable parcels of land situated across each of the 16 urban constituencies. Despite their prime locations, the flats will be allotted to selected beneficiaries at a nominal price of ₹6 lakh per unit. The estimated market value of these properties ranges between ₹30 lakh and ₹58 lakh.

The state government plans to register the completed houses directly in the names of the beneficiaries. This measure is intended to enable residents to own permanent homes in the specific constituencies where they currently reside, eliminating the need for them to relocate to other areas in search of affordable housing options.

Addressing the application requirements, Goutham clarified that applicants do not need to produce or submit caste or income certificates while applying for the Indiramma LIG scheme. Furthermore, the ₹10,000 deposit required from each applicant during submission will be refunded in full if a house is not allotted during the selection process. Goutham urged eligible individuals who have not yet submitted their forms to take advantage of the remaining opportunity before the August 10 deadline.
