OUJAC Meeting Disrupted By Tussle At Telangana Martyrs Memorial In Hyderabad

A heated tussle and commotion broke out among different groups of Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) leaders during a review session at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial opposite the Secretariat in Hyderabad. The disruption occurred during a meeting convened to identify and honor Telangana Udyama Karulu, the activists who participated in the statehood agitation.

High drama unfolded at the memorial when student leaders and Telangana movement activists were invited to present their views. The session quickly degenerated into aggressive face-offs and heated arguments, forcing organizers to suspend the proceedings of the review committee.

The primary source of contention among the different groups involved the process of identifying genuine Telangana movement activists. Additionally, disagreements arose regarding the allocation of welfare measures and representation for the families of martyrs who lost their lives during the statehood struggle.

According to committee members, the disruption was exacerbated by a much larger turnout than initially anticipated. Organizers of the event stated that they were expecting approximately 150 participants to attend the session. Instead, between 300 and 350 people gathered at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial to voice their opinions.

The sheer volume of attendees wanting to speak created significant logistical challenges. Around 50 people spoke during the session, and the situation turned chaotic as multiple attendees tried to present their views simultaneously.

Despite the aggressive face-offs and the suspension of the proceedings, committee members confirmed that the situation was eventually brought under control. A committee member explained that they managed to manage the crowd and de-escalate the tension before the confrontation could escalate into physical violence. The organizers noted that the overwhelming response to their call to identify and honor the statehood struggle participants ultimately led to the chaotic scenes.
